May 2023 Warm Fuzzy: The Ambassador’s Whisper

coach mike stott warm fuzzies May 01, 2023

Somedays it seems like it takes every ounce of energy I have to get anything accomplished.  Lifestyles seem to constantly get busier, and more complicated, for everyone, and listening, truly listening, seems to be in short supply.

I see many “going through the motions” people responding to people in robotic, mechanical ways, and never really hearing what is being said.  And therefore missing out on so much.

It might comfort you to know this is not just a 21st Century problem.

Consider the unproven story told of Franklin Roosevelt, who often endured long receiving lines at the White House. He complained that no one really paid any attention to what was said.

One day, during a reception, he decided to try an experiment.

To each person who passed down the line and shook his hand, he murmured, “I murdered my grandmother this morning.”

The guests responded with phrases like, “Marvelous! Keep up the good work. We are proud of you. God bless you, sir.”

It was not till the end of the line, while greeting the ambassador from Bolivia, that his words were truly heard.

Nonplussed, the ambassador leaned over and whispered, “I’m sure she had it coming.”

Funny story and I promise to really listen to you, your concerns, your wants, your ideas, and what’s important to you.  We’ll then give you our professional information, advice, and options to make it all happen.  You’ll then be able to make the decision that’s best for you and your family in buying or selling real estate.
