March 2023: Warm Fuzzy

coach mike stott warm fuzzies Mar 01, 2023

Had a great weekend that started early with a birthday party for 3 of my 5 adult children. (Happy Birthday Michael, Danielle, and Denise!)  All 8 grandkids were there.  Playing with toys and candy.

One grandson showed my oldest granddaughter his collection of candy. In turn, the girl showed the boy the collection of knickknacks she had gathered...

The boy proposed that the two of them switch–he would give her all of his candy if she handed over all of her knickknacks.

The girl agreed.

The boy handed over all of his candy but kept one–a milky way which was his favorite–in his pocket.

The girl kept her promise and gave the boy all of her knickknacks.

That night, my granddaughter was happy with the exchange and peacefully went to sleep.

My grandson, however, told me two days later (we had him for the weekend) that he couldn’t sleep, as he was up wondering if the girl had secretly kept some of her knickknacks, just like he did with the candy.

The Moral:

If you don’t give 100%, you will always assume others aren't giving 100% either.

If you want your relationships to be built on trust, you have to be a participating factor in that.

Honesty grows your character.

By being honest in relationships, you’re holding others accountable to do the same. It allows you to continuously think about your choices and how you can help (or hurt) the people you interact with.
